Entrepreneurship research informed by state-of-the-art data: a Nordic tradition
Research about entrepreneurship utilizing high-quality, multi-dimensional data has flourished in Nordic countries during the last two decades. The universal and longitudinal nature of the Nordic registers has attracted leading international scholars of entrepreneurship and provided a strong foundation for the growth of a Nordic scene for entrepreneurship research.
We see considerable potential in working together across the Nordic countries – to consolidate and develop research expertise and foster such expertise in a new generation of researchers. And these long-term purposes aside, we’re having a lot of fun meeting and learning from each other.
With their institutional similarities and cultural ties, the Nordic countries have many common challenges and opportunities regarding entrepreneurship, for instance, concerning the role of private entrepreneurial activity in welfare sectors and entrepreneurship as a driver and enabler of sustainable innovation and industrial transformation. Conducting research in a setting of Nordic collaboration, including comparative studies of entrepreneurship in the Nordic countries, is therefore also of great interest from the perspective of policy relevance.
